Download Amazon Movies

I just bought Hugo on Amazon, thinking I could download it and transfer it to my Nook Tablet for off-line watching. I was wrong. I've looked everywhere, but I just can't find the download button. Why would Amazon let you buy a movie, but not give you a plain DOWNLOAD link?!?! Anybody know how to do this?!?!

According to this page, there's always two options: 'watch now' (streaming) or 'download'. However, the screenshot example if for the Kindle Fire.

This is a very interesting concern for me since I own a Kindle Fire, but I've never rented or bought a movie (yet).

Apparently Amazon "Unbox" or something like that can download movies. Whether you can download them to a file, I don't know. I tried to install the program using Wine, to receive an error message when installing.

Downloadable movies are almost always encumbered with "digital rights management" (DRM) controls for copyright reasons. The studios won't allow distributors simply to send you a movie file that you can do with as you like.

See this page for more details. Only downloads to the Kindle Fire, Tivo, and Windows PCs are supported. Even Macs are off-limits, never mind Linux.

Maybe if you explain to customer service that you thought you could watch the movie on another device, they might refund your purchase.

Nevertheless, very interesting news: you can legally download movies and see them offline.

IMHO it is a positive step forward.

I mostly buy movies from amazon because it's the best source for buying anything.....

Physical stuff maybe. But they're no good for downloading music or videos. I don't want to buy any of the hardware downloading rquipment they say I need, on top of which I doubt I'd be able to transfer it to the machines I would want to listen/watch it on afterwards anyway. Digital Restrictions Management says No! I would have more use for a chocolate teapot.

The Amazon ubox is what lets you download something m a movie. It does not work on linux and most likly never will. It have the drm protected downloaded movies which need the stuff with the drm on windows to play.

You can stream the movies i believe now but not keep them locally to watch.
