How can I add chapters to my current mp3 audio file

I downloaded a speech in mp3. It has no chapters, so if I want to go to the middle of the speech I must scroll through it with the fast forward controls. How can I add chapters to the file?

Re: How can I add chapters to my current mp3 audio file

I just found out that Audacity will bust a mp3 into multiple files thus rendering them as individual chapters. However, the file will then be saved as WAV not mp3. So they are not playable on my car audio system.
    Any other ideas?

    Mp3splt-gtk

It's in the repos...will chop up your mp3's into little pieces without transcoding/re-encoding.

Woops! My last post was a bit premature. So far I have had no success figuring Mp3splt-gtk out. Any clues?
I assumed that the GUI would be easier but I wonder if the command line would be a better way to go. It seems that all the info I can locate deals with command line.
