Advice please on 12.04 upgrade

Is there any sort of check i can run to see if i am going to run into any major problems upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 ?

The only issue i had with the last upgrade was the Unity desktop. Being an old Dell desktop, it didn't like it too much, so i still use the Classic Gnome, which does not bother me at all...i like it.

I have read numerous posts and articles about 12.04 and a few mention running it on older machines, and having issues.

Is there anyway i can check if all my hardware will be able to cope etc... before i go ahead and upgrade ?

Any advice would be great.

There is no check that I am aware of.

You can always check with a livecd to see if your hardware will be working, but that's about as best as you can do.

Oh and do a backup before upgrading.

Thanks CharlesA for the reply. Yes, i guess that would be the best way, running a live CD (never even crossed my mind lol)

I do a Backup everyday so all things are safe, and my personal stuff is on dropbox & ubuntu one lol

I will give that a go
