I am experimenting with Precise on my local fileserver (i.e., it runs Ubuntu Server). Under 10.04, I had an xorg.conf that let me use the dummy video driver with a VNC set-up so that to computer would actually boot. Without the dummy driver in the xorg.conf the X refused to start, and the computer would hang.
In 12.04, the same xorg.conf doesn't work, and several others I have tried from various sources also have not worked.

Has anything changed in Precise? Why can't I "trick" X into thinking I have a monitor plugged in like I could in Lucid?
