Instant Immersion Talk Now display problem

Instant immersion is an alternative language course to rosetta stone (and a lot cheaper) i got today to learn german. the first disk installed and ran without an issue, but when i put the second disc in, i get a mostly black screen with just a narrow strip at the top show my top panel and a little bit of my desktop. also, the mouse turns black with a small black area around it when i move it. but i get no error messages of any kind. im guessing its still running, but there is a display conflict of some kind. any suggestions?
