A project a potential employer wants me to set up... can this be done?

So I'm a high schooler looking for an internship, and I found a potential employer, the owner of flomio. He wants a test project set up, and it's daunting but I want to try it. Here it is:

An ARMv5 "embedded" Linux computer must control a plasma TV and an XBoX kinect.
I need access to the Kinect's capabilities (including skeleton/hand tracking)
...via Python on the Linux computer so that it can interface with the client/server cloud software he's already made (in Python).

how can this be done?
