Re: Proprietary Drivers Installation Tutorial Please!
Plug in the camera and it should appear as an icon on the Launcher on the left side of the screen. You'll also be asked what you want to do with the camera you've just plugged in (whether you want to look at the photos, etc).
The printer driver is already included with the system. Go to the top-right corner of the screen - there is a menu there that looks like a cog and an on/off switch. Click that and go to Printers. Click on the Add button and then go to New Printer. After a few seconds your printer will appear on the left side of the window and then you just need to click it, then click the Next button. Give the printer a name and click Next again, and that's pretty much it.
Just a thought: You're using the latest Ubuntu, right? If you're using an older version of Ubuntu that's older than your printer, then it probably won't have the driver. Make sure you're using the latest Ubuntu, which is Ubuntu 11.10.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
