Unhappy 11.10 does not boot on HP dv6 6116us

    Hi,

I just got a HP dv6 6110us laptop and tried to boot 11.10 with no
luck (the screen goes black and stays that way).

    Ubuntu 10.04 however successfully boots.

Does anyone know if there is a fix or workaround ?

    Thanks.

    Ram

I have the same problem, I have a AMD Llano dv6 and 11.04 booted just fine, I switched to 11.10 and no dice. I see some verbosity in the beginning of the initial boot but the screen goes black and nothing happens. CPU continues to run because I can feel the heat.....

Exclamation Re: 11.10 does not boot on Llano

This is an issue for *buntu in this release, and several other newly released distro's. Such as Arch, Vector, CrunchBang, Mepis...
I believe this is a xorg config issue, since Chakra Project linux does not have this issue. It's currently at kernel 3.0.4 and KDE 4.7.2 without this issue.
I will be using it until this issue is resolved in *buntu. along with the k9copy package.
