10.04 ATI SVideo shows disconnected and TV not working

hi everyone, i've installed 10.04 on my computer with a radeon 9550, it's an old one I know.
Anyway I'm trying to get the TV output working. I've tried this solution:
    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/SVideo

the xrandr says that the S-video is disconnected alhouth it's connected.
    I've tried another solution here:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1332157

This thread didn't solved the issue also:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=608151

but I can't find a xorg.conf file on my system so I don't know how to add the lines. also in my case the s-video seems detected just disconnected.

    any help will be appreciated.

Does this bug applies to my situation? if I understand correctly there is a patch for that, how can I apply it?

Re: 10.04 ATI SVideo shows disconnected and TV not working

I've tried the process at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#TV_out but I can't get pass the first line:

    Code:
    xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1
    I'm getting the following error:
    Code:
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 149 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
Serial number of failed request: 27
Current serial number in output stream: 27
    what can I do?

I've found this to be a bug:
    https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27649
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/563983

but the bug has been solved. How can I update my system so it will make use of the patch?

I was having the same result. In 11.04 a working command for this purpose is:
xrandr --output S-VIDEO --set "load detection" 1

I entered this in this thread because there have apparently been some changes to variable names and the net is rife with the old erroneous variables.
