    Automating?

Not sure where to post this. I'm experimenting with Ubuntu 11.04. I want to know if I can somehow write a program or something that will automate an action. For example, save multiple existing images on my computer with new incrementing, number/letter file names. ( 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c... etc.). If I could add another action of copy/paste images or text to the automation, that would also help. It would save hours of work for me.

I'm fairly familiar with C++ if it's possible to write the code in that language.

    Thank you for reading.

    Hi MorLinG...

I dont know how to automate using C++ but ,In Linux u can automate with ease by USING 'SHELL SCRIPTS'
Definitely learning Shell is very very easy... Its just more than learning terminal or command prompt

Linux installers which i hav found are mostly shell scripts & u can do lot of things using it.

Like an automated script? I'm not to exptertized in this. But I think you'll need to look at a .sh script

Fantastic. Thank you for the quick replies. Shell scripting is definitely the answer I was looking for. I'm at the link posted earlier and it is fairly easy to understand. I don't think English is the author's first language. =/ But it's helpful nonetheless. Thanks again guys.
