Questions about trying other OS's on Virtualbox

    Hi

I just installed Virtualbox and would like to try many other Linux OS's and I have a few questions.

    1. How many OS can I install, If I only run 1 at a time?
    2. Can most be installed via 2GiB usb stick/flash drive?
    3. Does anyone have any links to a thread where they talk about this?
    4. How difficult is it to get rid of?

I have 2GiB of RAM & about 80GiB free on Ubuntu, and dual boot Vista.

    5. Should I give more than 512MiB for RAM to the guest OS?

    Thanks
    Dave

    1. I don't thinks there's a limitation on how many you can install, but they all need disk space, so it would be more of a question of disk space.
    2. I don't think the version available on the repos can use USB. I think the one you can get at their site does.
    3. Although you can always came here for questions, I think the virtualbox forums has more detail information.
    4. That's very simple, don't forget to erase the virtual hard drive!
    5. It all depends on the OS. Most Linux distros will do OK, XP will do fine as well. I don't think Vista or Win7 would even boot with less than 1Gb.

    I hope it helps.

Exclamation Re: Questions about trying other OS's on Virtualbox

    Hi,
Ive just registered on forum and Im new to this. My friend had previously installed Ubuntu through Sun Virtualbox on my Samsung NC10 Network which I upgraded ram from 1 to 2gb. The problem is that my system is almost full and sometime freezes. I wanted to uninstall Ubuntu from Virtualbox or if I uninstall Virtualbox will that successfully uninstall Ubuntu and its partition.
    Thank you.

    Gregco, welcome to the boards.

If you want to get help, you will need to start your own thread.
    Thanks for the bump.

Thank you Papibe. That helped quite a bit. I am registered at that site now. It seems like there would be discussions & how to's on here though.

I also downloaded the latest version 4.0 from the website, but I still can't figure out how to use it with a usb stick, or use an iso downloaded to my hard disk, which is supposed to be the fastest way & I don't want to burn cd's for every OS I try.
