Thumbs down Where to download Ubuntu for PowerPC and other frequently asked questions

Ubuntu for PowerPC is now a community supported platform (the announcement). This means that ISO downloads have mean moved to the ports section of the Ubuntu sever, and no longer on most mirrors. You can download them from

    ubuntu-12.04-desktop-powerpc.iso
    ubuntu-12.04-alternate-powerpc.iso

There is a more complete and up to date list of download locations at: Ubuntu PowerPC Downloads

Answers to other PowerPC questions can be found in the Ubuntu PowerPC FAQ. And there is useful information at Ubuntu PowerPC Known Issues

Do you have any idea where repositories are? Or is there any available at all?

Quick question... can I do a dist-upgrade from a previous install with these sources or would I be best served to download an ISO an do a FRESH install?

Note that ppc packages are no longer on any of the mirrors to save space and bandwidth - they only exist on a ports server now.

From our friends at Xubuntu (and also in the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS errata), make sure your /etc/apt/sources.list file is correct.

    This might help out:

If you aren't running Xubuntu, substitute gedit for mousepad as the editor to use to edit the sources.list file. (or kdesu kate for kde fans, sudo nano for cli, etc)

Ubuntu Hardy PPC, iMac G3 Blueberry

I downloaded the image, burned it, popped it in the iMac, and booted with the 'live video=ifonly' as the normal boot wasnt giving any video output (havent tried with external monitor yet). Boots up, but theres no GUI. startx fails (just making sure) and im not sure what to do now. how would i get this working?
