dell d620 cpu temp question

good morning
i have a dell d620 and a few questions about it, this laptop has a t2400 cpu shouldn't it run a 64bit operating system? when ever i try to boot a 64bit Linux os i get the black screen with the blinking courser? hardinfo is showing it to have two cores ?

the fan is working if i go into the bios and set the pmw to ff but when ubuntu is installed the fan is not running. when i run hardinfo it is telling me the THM is 46 degrees c, 114 degrees f isn't this to hot and shouldn't the fan be running?

you have a 32 bit processor.


Congratulations that you keep the heat as low as 46 degrees. The fan usually does not kick in that low.

i was just trying to wrap my head around why someone would make a core duo processor that wasn't 64bit. or 64bit compatible

i thought the temp was high until i started researching it, really i just wonted to see the fan come on, in a room 70f degrees i had to play a move from another computer to get the fan to come on and it stayed around 47c to 50c the fan finally kicked on at 60c.
