    Kernel 3.7 and AMD cpu's

    Just out of curiosity, how many of us with AMD cpu's are having trouble booting the the latest kernel available in the repositories?

    My Intel atom powered netbook runs just fine with the 3.7.0.2 kernel.

    I have no problem to boot.
    The installation is an upgrade from 12.04.1 to 12.10 and then with changed source list
    Code:
    sudo sed -i 's/quantal/raring/g' /etc/apt/sources.list
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

    I have that problem I can´t boot in 3.7 kernel, system immediately freezes and gets stuck in it and not do anything any more after that

    Seems ok here on an amd 8150, but labelled a little oddly:

    Code:
    andrew@corinth:~$ uname -a
    Linux corinth 3.7.0-2-generic #8-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 15 16:20:48 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    Re: Kernel 3.7 and AMD cpu's

    No problems for me at all, but my CPU is pretty old. Just a single-core Athlon 64, but I am using the 64-bit kernel.

    FYI, haven't been able to update for several days due to being under the weather and not able to get to my Raring machine, so this is current info as of last Saturday.

    I tried the rc6 yesterday, and I do have the amd-microcode installed, and still no joy.

    I should also add that I can't boot the daily live iso either.

    All is well but there is some scrambly screen just before plymouth. The white-stripe Unity panel boot is gone and menu tabs on windows are seamless on this ATI radeon-express1250.
