For the sake of completeness. I have Dell Laptop: Inspiron E1505 (same as 6400) with ATI x1400 card. CompizFusion, all Desktop effects, 3D effects, etc work at 100%. CompizFusion works extremely fast using direct rendering. Yes, you will find that direct rendering is not supported. Ignore this error message (
if and only if you are using fglrx driver and Xgl server).
