This worked for me with Ubuntu 10.04 reasonably fresh install
Downloaded the drivers from here 0.28-beta
http://www.avermedia.com/AVerTV/Prod...1&tab=APDriver
unzip into something like ~/workingDirectory
Code:
sudo apt-get install dialog
sudo apt-get install Kaffeine
cd ~/workingDirectory/A828_Installer_x64_0.28-Beta
sudo ./AVERMEDIA-Linux-x64-A828-0.28-beta.sh
Choose normal install
should return something like
...

[13567.092127] A828 registered V4L2 device radio0[radio]

start Kaffeine
Television --> Configure Television --> Device 1[tab]
Source -->autoscan Australia (becasue that is where I am of course
)
OK
Television Channels --> Start Scan
Hopefully you will see Scan Results populate. Highlight the ones you want, then select Add Selected
OK
Then enjoy the inane babble that is broadcast over the air.
Hope this works for you too.
