  1. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Could it have just been a random firefox crash? Does is crash again when you try it again? If so, what version of firefox?
  2. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Are you the person who searched for "a"? It certainly might crash firefox if you tried to load such a huge results list.

Edit: if not, what did you search for that crashed it?

    The tarballs...
  3. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

I'd really like to know what's going on, but you seem to be the only person it's happening to, and I frankly don't have any clue why.

    I've tried it in firefox 3.0.1, so I don't think that's the...
  4. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Oh, yes. It uses those, if you're referring to the files in /var/lib/apt/lists.

It almost does, it comes _so frustratingly close_ to being there as one command.
  5. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

That's definately possible. I haven't tried accessing it through a proxy at all. When download?package=packagename is hit, it then downloads / generates the package and serves it back - download...
  6. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Odd, I don't have any 404's in my logs. What browser are you using, and what packages are you searching for?

Edit: I found the 404s... apt-proxy - looks like it's sending you the download link...
  7. Re: I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Branch from launchpad, bzr branch lp:pd or something like that. I'm not sure about setting up cherrypy to run behind apache. There are install instructions, the funkiest thing you have to do is add a...
  8. I wrote a web-app for downloading packages + dependencies.

Hey everyone, I'm not entirely sure if this is the best place to stick this semi-announcement, but since the actual announcement forum is locked, and it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else, I guess...

    Re: Greetings from Muncie.

Yeah, I know you from twitter. I haven't been updating much recently as I've been trying to get some funding for projects, and it's been sucking up a lot of time.

    [ubuntu] Re: Identify Ubuntu Command

The shell variable $PATH contains all of what could be considered "keywords" in this sense. At a terminal,

    echo $PATH

will give you a list of directories that programs that are...

Does this help? You can check if a certain argument is a certain string with strcmp(), if I remember correctly.

    Re: Bash Script

I second the recommendation of ABS (link is in my sig). Also, man bash once you've settled into the syntax a bit.

Re: How do I do this modulus in C?

You may find this an enlightening read. Also this, which is python-specific, but is still a decent overview of the issues you deal with with floating point numbers.

[ubuntu] Re: How to remove unused packages

Aptitude is a bit smarter about it. Granted, I've never had much of a problem with apt-gets dependency resolution, but I've heard some horror stories.

Re: Best beginner book for C++?

Alright, I know you said not to ask, but if you're looking to get into programming as a hobby at the moment (and perhaps later professionally), why C++? And why do you hate python? Inquiring minds...

Re: Best beginner book for C++?

Can I ask why you want to learn C++ specifically? I mean, I see you don't like python - but why C++? Why not C, Ruby, Lisp?

Re: finding the right open source project

My advice would be to find an open source project that you use a lot, or that you really like, and start reading the code for it. Figure out how it's organized, and follow the development mailing...

Poll: Re: Easier way to mount network shares

Yes, that's very true - it's not nearly enough for everyone. I was just commenting on my experience, which was one of getting really frustrated getting samba shares to work flawlessly.

Poll: Re: Easier way to mount network shares

I use kubuntu, and konquorer tends to detect and handle samba shares perfectly fine. On the other hand, every time I've set up samba shares by hand, it's been a royal pain.
