  1. [ubuntu] Re: Crazy notify-send messages on login screen

Interesting, thanks. I always say no to that sort of malarkey, but I've nuked all my cookies just to be on the safe side. My guess is that it's my VPN. Going to turn things on and off to see what...

Re: Firefox swipe to go back not working

Nope. Nothing. Left/right swiping still registers - e.g. ctrl+swipe zooms in/out on FF. But no back/forward.

EDIT: Further tests = doesn't work on Chrome either.

[ubuntu] Re: Files will not delete/Can't empty trash

In the terminal do (as root, so use sudo prefix or su):

    chown [yourname].[yourname] -R /home/[yourname]/.local/share/Trash

    Should be good to go.

    * Edit: This assumes you're using gnome 2.22...

Re: ubuntu, its just not ready

According to one of your earlier posts, you haven't actually paid for Windows, but have used pirated versions of it. 'Paying a fair price' eh?

Well, you do get what you pay for, I suppose.
  10. Re: The Ubuntu community is guilty of ignoring real problems.

Sorry to go off the point (on which I agree) - but have you tried axel?

Re: What should one do if he has been hacked?

Would checking the logs on the router help?
You could also check the /var/auth.log to see what privileges have been used and when and what for etc.
