  1. [ubuntu] Re: Cron not working in Hardy (and no error message)

    I tried and it didn't help. The problem in that thread seems to be related to mount of encrypted partitions.
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Cron not working in Hardy (and no error message)

    I found this in /var/log/messages:

    Edit: same in syslog.

    Thanks
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Cron not working in Hardy (and no error message)

    Thanks, but that didn't do it.
    Actually I've put that task just for testing. The real task is a shell script execution.

    I changed to mkdir ~/aaa and it was not created either.

    Still not...
  4. [ubuntu] Cron not working in Hardy (and no error message)

    My tasks:

    $ crontab -l
    # m h dom mon dow command
    * * * * * mkdir ~/`date +%H:%M`

    Nope. I just lost my theme preferences :)

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Error: Your session lasted less than 10 seconds. Many distros sharing home dir

    The UID of $HOME was already 500 (the other distro did it). I changed my UID and GID in /etc/passwd and /etc/group.
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Error: Your session lasted less than 10 seconds. Many distros sharing home dir

    Hi, thanks for your answer.
    The partition has over 5GB free. That isn't the problem.

    Yeah, I had to change the IDs to 500 in order to match the other distro.

    What else could cause that...
  13. [ubuntu] Error: Your session lasted less than 10 seconds. Many distros sharing home dir

    Hi, I'm getting this error message frequently when I log in:

    I suspect this happens because I have multiple distros sharing the same home directory. One of them is probably messing something...

    [all variants] Re: Rebuilt kernel has no sound (Hardy)

    Just trying to learn something.

    But I want to remove stuff I won't need (different processors, ISA, etc). I'll take a look at KernelCheck.

    Thanks.

    I did. There's nothing checked there too.
    So I'll have to recompile it again :roll:

    I tried that tutorial but it seems I don't have any snd-* module.

    I think igknighted is right.
    I went to menuconfig and it looks like there's no ALSA support:...

    [all variants] Rebuilt kernel has no sound (Hardy)

    Hi,

    I recompiled kernel 2.6.24 (my first) in Hardy with the default options and when I booted the new kernel I had no sound.
    I ran alsaconf and this is the message I got:
