bump.
using debian now on antother machine with the same motherboard.
same BS behavior.
curiously, i have no problems when using Xubuntu, but ubuntu and debian totallly fail.
is this a standard behavior for ubuntu?
i had an older ubuntu system with the same problem.
it doesn't seem to be hardware-related, as the older system had a high-end card.
i'm now running windows...
good thing i have about 30 10GB HDD's laying around!
HDD replaced.
OS re-installed.
all good so far.
i'll report back after a few days of service.
when i login to my xubuntu 11.04 ssh box the shell session returns "input/output error" and drops the session. however, the tunneling functionality still works.

reading up on it now.
what are the chances that the input will play through the output when i'm finished?

under audacity's preferences:

using: "PortAudio V19-devel (built Apr 12 2010 13:28:40)
playback

thanks bud.
browsed through it myself, but this is beyond my abilities to troubleshoot.
the reason i did this in the first place was because i suspected an exploit had been executed on the port.
now i'm not so sure.
before i changed it, i started getting a response from the server...
not the way i wanted to get beans...
anyone?
bump

i would like to use an alternate port for ssh access.
what is the standard procedure for accomplishing this?

i have a friend's dell inspiron e1505 that he wanted to have xubuntu installed on to replace windows.
the install went great (restricted sources enabled, b43 drivers installed automatically).
