[SOLVED] Re: How do I know if Back in Time is working?

It's not suppose to take very long at all. It's not functioning correctly and unfortunately it's beyond my ability to troubleshoot BIT.

[SOLVED] Re: How do I know if Back in Time is working?

Might be a bug with BIT and not related to my NAS then.

    Maybe this one? https://bugs.launchpad.net/backintime/+bug/581614

[SOLVED] Re: How do I know if Back in Time is working?

Creating hard links takes an incredible amount of time for me, too. Maybe 12 hours? Something ridiciulous for an incremental change. Also saving permissions takes a good amount of time as well. I had...
  4. Re: Paid Audio, Video, and Image editing software

I'd pay for photoshop. I'm already using AfterShot Pro for my photography business.

[ubuntu] DBus error when trying to access NAS

    Hello Everyone,

I'm trying out Deja Dup for the 12.04 cycle and backing up 3TBs of data with it to a NAS. Unfortunately when I try to mount the backup folder I get this error :

    Sorry, could...
  6. Re: seems that linux will have (finally) a decent photo-editor

The export to external editor also makes an elegant way to further work on a RAW file (of course after it's converted) in GIMP, PS, etc.

Corel's ASP is very similar to B5, but the color management...

  8. [photography] Re: New software for Linux RAW photo workflow, Darktable

Started using DT more lately. It's much more stable for me and I've been able to produce a few photo sets through it.

Thank you devs! Trying to see how far I can take this photography venture...

Re: HP to drop personal systems group?

Sad day for webOS users like myself. So much syncing and cloud goodness, not to mention the amazing usability of the UI vs. other OSs. Oh well :\.

  12. [ubuntu] Re: Photography Management: Windows Better Than Natty?

I do all my photography work in Linux but my tools include Bibble 5 and more recently Darktable, both which run fine on Natty for me.

If needed, I'll further process in GIMP. All of these seem...

Re: Steve Ballmer Announces Windows 8 For 2012

LOL. I'm excited to see it. I love operating systems of all kind. I've built my business around Ubuntu, but new ideas and competition is healthy for the end user.

Poll: Re: When did you discover GNU/Linux?

I discovered Ubuntu installed on a Machine in Circuit city. Must've been 2006 or 7. I had been into window customized environments like litestep, but quickly recognized (That's no moon) that it...

[ubuntu] Re: Unity - I love it, so far.

Hey! You're not allowed to like Unity! Haven't you heard it's completely clumsy and unusable! (Sarcasm).

Glad you like it. I'm pretty much on the same page except for your comments on Compiz.
  21. [all variants] Re: Unity and Gnome 3 are designed for touch screens

Disagree (keyboard shortcuts are actually very integral to it's operation). It appears that way in screenshots but in practice that's hardly true. It's like saying Windows 7's taskbar icons or OSXs...
  22. Re: Will Ubuntu EVER move away from the purply/orange theme?

What's nice about modern Microsoft and Apple designs is they represent materials and organic elements. Glass, metals, etc.

Ubuntu's default theme just doesn't emulate anything natural.

  24. Re: Will Ubuntu EVER move away from the purply/orange theme?

Or make it with soft grey gradients to look like a mac! Oh wait someone(s) already did that.

I don't think they'll change the colors too drastically anytime soon. Once Unity is done(r), I hope...

    Re: Unity MEGA Thread

I think that's sort of a misconception. Maybe not in the case of unity, but in many ways having MORE experience in something actually hurts your ability to adapt to changes. With Unity or without...
