Re: Things that you hate in Ubuntu

I hate the way stuff breaks on its own just doing routine updates. Currently flash video and wireless stopped working with the last set of updates. This gets old.

[SOLVED] Re: Samsung P3 Portable Audio Player

Ok...I switched the player to UMS mode to get it to show up.

This results in reduced functionality. I can't manage playlists on it like I can in WMP 11.

    Oh well

  5. Re: why ubuntu does not appeal to the general public

This might be a good idea for a new installer module -

    "Theme Selector"

At some stage in the install process, the user could be presented with 3 or 4 theme choices (default human, blubuntu,...

Re: Stay away from 9.10 !!!!!!!

So you suggest that the free (as in cost) nature of Ubuntu should be a reason to accept deficiencies?

I disagree that computers are unlike other technology. I do believe those that refuse to see...

Re: Stay away from 9.10 !!!!!!!

It's not about fairness. No one cares about fairness. All they care about is that when button A is pushed that Result A is obtained.

We can rationalize software deficiencies all day...but that...

Re: 9.10 shouldn't have been released yet.

    I disagree.

Product must move by ship date. Unless it contains fatal flaws, it must move. Updates can correct errors.

Software developers are inherent perfectionists. Left to their own devices,...

Re: Stay away from 9.10 !!!!!!!

I'll never understand how people like you tend to think that just because someone doesn't want to "think" about their computer system, that they can't think for themselves in general.

    Some people...

Re: Stay away from 9.10 !!!!!!!

You're analogy is flawed. Most drivers are not mechanics and rely on good engineering and comprehensive owner's manuals to ensure reliable operation.

Re: Things that you hate in Ubuntu

Gotta add...it's a PITA that Ubuntu disconnects the wireless, then a password must be entered to reconnect in another user account.

Should be able to switch seamlessly between accounts.
