I figured out that I don't care anymore...so marking thread as solved even though it isn't.
I'm really hoping there's an easy way to just install debian over my existing xubuntu installation. I don't want to deal with backing things up again, my external hard-disc is already almost full. ...
I tried the consumer preview of Win8 and it was so bad! They completely got rid of the classic Windows start menu and replaced it with a smartphone GUI...I really hate it. I didn't test it out...
I installed Windows on one of my desktops for C++ programming in Visual Studio...I typically work with Code::Blocks under linux, but I guess this setup would be good for Windows programming and...
Yes, that's great! Good answer.
However, I managed to get openBox running well and playing nice with AWN. Is there any solution for openBox? Apologies for this switchup, but I think I like...
I agree with this. You probably unchecked "Window Decoration" in Compiz or something.
I've tried to get compiz to work towards my liking, but everytime I solve a problem, a new one comes about. I've settled on the probability that compiz simply doesn't play nice with xfce/xubuntu. ...
It seems that this bug only happens when I have frostwire open. As soon as I close it, the box goes away...this changes the story just a bit.
I didn't add or remove any panels...the desktop is almost exactly how xubuntu comes default
anybody?
Please help. There is an annoying graphical bug in my copy of xubuntu (11.10 64-Bit) that has occurred many times. It doesn't cause any functionality issues, but it is rather annoying to see it. ...
Thanks for the response. That looked like it would really slow down my machine, though, so I decided on a different solution. I have mounted devices in its own panel widget.
I'm running Xubuntu 11.10 and thought it would be great for my desktop organization if I could get a widget that placed my desktop folder in its own little box on the desktop like in...
!!!!! I love you man! It worked!
Bump
I can't add any keyboard shortcuts...it only asks what command would be executed and doesn't allow me to input which keys would activate the shortcut. Also, the shortcuts that were there before have...
Ooh! I tried "jstest /dev/input/js0" and I can see values changing as I press buttons on the controller!! Now, there is a new problem, however.
In mupen64plus, the moment I click on a parameter...
Thanks for the help! I just switched to XFCE yesterday...will try it out again later, its possible that the Xubuntu install could have fixed it.
EDIT: Nope, XFCE didn't do any better.
I used Unity for about a month and liked it for the majority until I decided to start customizing. In these past few days, however, I've been trying different DE's...mainly KDE and XFCE. I tried...
I've never owned a Mac, so I may be dead wrong on this one. As far as I know, bootcamp is no different from dual-booting on the typical PC, so, if I am correct, WUBI would have 3d-acceleration.
Cantaloupes are nasty!
Eating socks, that rocks!
Fair enough. I guess I'll just keep USB Drives then, as wasting discs is starting to get annoying.
and @mastablasta,
That's what I meant.
Bumping the thread. Due to the direction gnome is taking, I decided to switch to XFCE. I had Xubuntu installed on my old laptop with 506 MB RAM (Yes, 506) and some really low-end processor. I...
Just out of curiosity...Would it work? Would it fail catastrophically? Would it even boot at all? Would like to know because I don't want to be making two discs every time.
^^ What do you mean by "check if /dev/input/js0 is ready?"
Sorry, I'm relatively new to linux, so bear with me please.
