    Thanks but I'd say that is the same problem and no fix as restarting X is not a fix.

    It is likely this is a Compiz issue though.

    Note that xkill may not appear to work as there could be hundreds or thousands of this invisible window on top of one another so that killing it kills one and the rest remain.

    Same issue on Arch with Xfce and Compiz.

    No idea of fix yet. The behavior seems to have just started, is persistent and consistent.

    The theme uses images to make it look the way it does.

    transparency only works for themes using solid colours and gradients set in code.

    Images are not made transparent unless you use compiz...

    I have it working on Mint, as I said he must not have it installed properly, is missing some element, or using part of another theme that is interfering.
