That's a good idea - thanks!
Nothing really - only that I sometimes use keyboard commands (e.g. to launch activities and move between workspaces) and sometimes I use the mouse, depending on the kind of task I'm undertaking.
Is there any way of moving the workspace overview in Activities to the left side of the screen, without losing the grid representation of Workspace to Grid? I've tried looking for extensions or and...
Question: Where is the startup compositor and window manager specified in the system files of Xubuntu 18.04?
I have been using xfce with compiz for many years, since it really increases my...
This query was solved in the xfce-forums.
The plugin library files need to be installed to the correct locations:
./configure --prefix=/usr \
--sysconfdir=/etc \
...
I tried to install windowck for the xfce4-panel (4.12.0) from here.
I installed the following dependencies, as recommended for Debian-based distributions:
sudo apt install debhelper...
Thanks guber2! Should I make that file executable and add it to Application Autostart?
What compositor would you recommend for the wall effect?
I don't think xfwm4 or compton can do that? I only know about kwin, which is as heavy as compiz, plus all the qt libraries you need to...
Cheers, that's great news!
Just realised that compiz is technically dead now that Unity was dropped. My bad.
Thanks again! Yeah, I agree it sounds like a contradiction. Personally, I don't like to have fancy DEs like Unity or Plasma on my work machine, but I have the resources and find some basic desktop...
Thanks vasa1, prompt as always.
I took a look and there seems to be an older patch for the issue I'm facing: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/1292820
I don't know how...
Installed compiz a couple of days ago and came across this in the ArchWiki: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xfce4-panel-compiz/
Is there a similar package for Xubuntu? I'm using 16.04.
Hi T. J.
Thank you once again. I just saw your reply today as I didn't realise it was on the second page of this thread already!
Hers is my output:
I've tried to recover a corrupt .mp4 file using ffmpeg and untrunc on trusty.
The first simply doesn't work, I get: "Invalid data found when processing input."
On the other hand, untrunc...
Hi again, T.J.
I have been using Compton for some weeks now, and have found it's a great lightweight compositor.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that windows seem to lag a bit behind...
Thanks, just tried it! Indeed, it seems it's just a theme problem.
So now that I've been playing around a bit, it seems to be a theme problem.
I'm using Moka icons on the Ambiance-Flat-Pink-Pro theme.
On another laptop I've got Faenza icons on Ambiance-Flat-Teal-Pro and it works fine.
Thanks for your reply, speartrip. That would make sense. As you can see in the picture, however, some icons of the same set (Clipman, LibreOffice, and Power Manager) do adapt to the panel...
I'm using Xubuntu 16.04. As you can see below, the icons in the indicator plugin are not adjusted to the panel's opacity.
Does anyone know how this can be fixed?
...
Isn't that just for the disk cache, though?
It really depends on your usage - how much memory would you like Firefox to use? Up to a GB in total? You can check current usage at the address about:cache. If you don't want to use the memory cache...
Thanks, I'll try that one, add transparency and keep the window always on top, let's see how it works.
Oh, you're right, good to know that. Any good stopwatch for Xfce you know of?
