For others who find this thread it looks like this file is now:
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
/dev/random is very slow because it has to wait for the system to make random data. /dev/urandom is going to be WAY faster. There is a difference, but I personally don't think it matters for this...
Bump... if anyone has setup bridging with a 9.10 Karmic host please let me know. Just knowing it is possible would be nice.
Ok built a new guest and the udev rules are correct. The previous problem was a result of me messing with the mac address.
I'm still stymied here and looking for some validation that someone is...
So you have successfully done bridging with 9.10?
brctl showmacs br0
2 52:54:00:c1:46:23 no 7.04 <- the guest
2 d2:bb:50:9f:2e:31 yes 0.00 <- vnet0
I assume that vnet0 is...
I'm not, I just mistyped that. Hard to copy from virt-viewer. Should have been
guest /etc/network/interfaces
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.10.1.52
netmask 255.255.255.0
...
Have you gotten this working? Because I don't think it is a configuration problem unless something has changed that was not reflected in the server guide or the wiki. But I hope I'm wrong because...
I've been messing with bridging for a couple of days now and I'm not getting any results.
The host is 9.10 following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KVM/ on a clean upgraded...
Did you ever solve this? I had bridged networking going just fine with 8.04 a fresh install using 9.10 however and the guests can no longer ping out. I'm getting zero error messages or usefull...
Damn, found it as soon as I asked.
In the xml file there is:
I just changed it to cdrom and all was well.
I would like to boot an existing working vm from an iso file. I can add the iso to the xml file and import without a problem, but I have no idea how to set the boot device priority for the VM bios...
I feel like I tried everything to get this running until finally I started tryign things again and this time virt-viewer worked. I don't know what I was doing wrong the first time. Here is the...
I hosed up the network on one of my kvm guests so I can no longer connect to it via ssh. Both the host and the guest are headless.
ssh to the host and do:
virsh console guestname
unable to...
Of course 20 seconds later I realized that the paths in the domain xml configurations in ~/.libvirt/qemu/ should probably be absolute paths so I edited those and now everything works. I guess...
I used virt-install and virt-clone to create a few windows XP instances and then I used virt-manager to connect to them, start them, stop them, etc several times. All was good for a couple of days. ...
I think we (as in the community) as ddosing the repos. I'm getting a really slow connection in San Francisco, since yesterday, bout when I downloaded hardy. Probably lots of folks doing...
Using 8.04 final now and still no sound. I guess this just isn't possible right now with KVM?
If you have sound in your guests can you let me know, if I know it is possible I will figure out how to...
I am using hardy beta and virt-manager to create a kvm virtual machine. Everything works great except that with the virtual machine there is no sound card. Anyone know how I can get sounds working...
oh good another search engine... talk about reinventing the wheel. Is it going to be open source?
Does anyone know where to find the public key for the plf repo?
