/dev/random is very slow because it has to wait for the system to make random data. /dev/urandom is going to be WAY faster. There is a difference, but I personally don't think it matters for this...

Did you ever solve this? I had bridged networking going just fine with 8.04 a fresh install using 9.10 however and the guests can no longer ping out. I'm getting zero error messages or usefull...

I hosed up the network on one of my kvm guests so I can no longer connect to it via ssh. Both the host and the guest are headless.
