This is what came up when I ran both commands
barry@barry-laptop:~$ ls /boot/grub/images

This did not fix my problem...I have tried to change the splash to another image, then direct edit to make sure that file was named correctly, but still same error just different file name.
I installed the script using the directions in the readme file, ie sudo ./install. I get this error during boot Failed to read splash image ((hd1,1) /boot/grub/images/splash.xpm.gz) press any key...

I have tried using images with that extension with the correct resolution as stated in the help file...Still nothing, getting the same error. I cannot even get the supplied image file to display.
