    Guys, i have a toshiba t135 and the problems that i encounter are:
    1. Can't change screen brightness. (in 10.04 i had a workaround, doesn't work anymore in 10.10)

    Hello, i have a toshiba T135 laptop.
    The problem is that the brightness keys don't work anymore in 10.10. They worked fine in 10.04 with "nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor" but now this line only...

    i wanted to say that its still far from "desirable". It works better but definitely not desirable... so i don't use skype with linux, for example. :(

    ok. you can change the line back to it's default and do update-grub.
    Let's hope that in the final 10.10 this will be fixed.

    OH! I forgot to add 1 more line at the end


    sudo update-grub

    execute it after you save the changes to the file. Then reboot.

    try going to

    sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
    and edit this line:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
    into this

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset...

    Either install an older driver (Sys>admin>hardware drivers) or try the latest (xxx.53++) (nvidia-installer --update)

    yes, it should work with 10.10. But 10.10 has a quite good kernel... i'm surprized it didn't worked. You can still try the ppa though.

    there is a ppa called best-intel
    Add it. Install la latest kernel from it and upgrade the drivers (or just do the update). It may fix something... These are thelatest developements of gpu drivers...

    Try the alternate version of ISO. get it from http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/

    the alternate installer has a "rescue a broken system" in it's primary/first menu.

    Hey, ppl usualy don't respond because they don't know what to say. But you can always bump three times a thread.

    If it hangs during a long I/O operation then it is a kernel bug. It will be fixed...

    It's an kernel issue. I had it too...
    Either upgrade to the latest available in the repos, or search for "best-intel ppa"(guido iodice) and add it to your repos + install the latest kernel.

    I believe the 512kb cache is per core. So i would go for the second
    Btw, 533 mhz fsb is pretty low. Better for you to save money and buy somthing else.

    I don't know if i can help you with this... but it would be nice to know what OS version are you using and what kernel version(uname -a). oh, and what type of a filesystem is your sdb?
