  1. [ubuntu] DragonFly DAC, Ubuntu 16.04: just 48 khz instead of 96

    Hello,

    I'm trying to use my DragonFly Black 1.5 DAC with Ubuntu 16.04 on a laptop. I'm playing 96khz files via qmmp; the log contains stuff like:

    BITRATE = 2744
    SAMPLERATE = 96000
    CHANNELS =...

    I have an Impact LX 25 MIDI keyboard. It's working nicely under Windows, and everything seems to be fine hardware-wise. But in Linux I have the most basic problem: connecting it to a synthesizer. My...

    [SOLVED] Re: Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    Thanks! Unfortunately right now I won't try your solution since I shouldn't risk any video catastrophe in the coming days and so I will not remove the drivers, but I will check this in the future.

    [SOLVED] Re: Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that -- it also doesn't work! (I rebooted.) This is 14.04.1 64-bit. I doublechecked the path to the script, and that the script really does his job when ran. I...

    [SOLVED] Re: Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    Thank you, but I did that (in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf), and unfortunately it didn't work. (There was no difference in screen behaviour after logging out and back in.)

    [SOLVED] Re: Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    OK, the issue is solved for me. In a dirty way.

    If someone has a similar problem like, here's what I did:
    1) created a file correctvideomode.sh (it can be whenever you want) consisting solely of...

    [SOLVED] Re: Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    I hope I'll be forgiven for making another post on this.

    So, I inserted the '410 256' screen dimensions by hand to xorg.conf (section Monitor, option DisplaySize). No change.
    Right after startup,...

    [SOLVED] Cannot change resolution in 14.01.1 (nvidia)

    I just upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04.1; I'm using the nvidia drivers.

  12. [ubuntu] Re: vlc not opening any windows after setting as a default application

    Doing the purge, and then deleting the hidden $HOME/.config/vlc directory did the trick at least partially: the program now works, but sound is garbled.
  13. [ubuntu] Re: vlc not opening any windows after setting as a default application

    Let me just add that doing "aptitude purge vlc" and reinstalling vlc did not help at all!
  14. [ubuntu] vlc not opening any windows after setting as a default application

    12.04 64bit.

    I set vlc as a default application for mkv files using Nautilus.

    Now vlc does not work at all. If I open any video file, simply nothing happens. If I run it from the terminal, a...
