Can't I otherwise just delete " .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity "?
Might that solve it?
Well, you get the option to disable your desktop basicly with gconf-editor (terminal line, k?), meaning you don't see icons on your desktop, you just have your wallpaper.
