  1. Re: Help me chose a programming language and IDE

Wouldn't that be like blaming a word processor for a person's inability to spell or use proper grammar since the program fixes so much?
  2. Re: Help me chose a programming language and IDE

Out of curiosity, how is Microsoft teaching anyone anything here? A student of any language can learn bad habits from any teacher or on their own. A student learning C++ while using Linux could learn...

Re: whats a good computer for .... ?

Please don't spread lies. You can use 32 bit OS with >4GB. It's called PAE.

Please don't spread lies and that's all this statement is. You wouldn't like it if MS said...
  4. Re: Windows 8 lets microsoft remove data without your consent

Well, it was ZDNet...we can't be too surprised with their quality of journalism.
  5. Re: Windows 8 lets microsoft remove data without your consent

Very true. All this getting up in arms over something you choose to agree to. If you don't like the product or the license, don't buy it. Simple as that. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.
  6. Re: Windows 8 lets microsoft remove data without your consent

Just don't buy things from the Windows store. Problem solved.

    [SOLVED] Re: Terminal Location ???

You're in your home directory. You're good. That address is 'your user name' at 'your computer name'

The death of anyone is a sad event. It is even sadder when it is someone so young.

RIP, Robin, and may your memory be eternal.

Re: Windows documentation, wow. Just, wow.

Y'all are right. They're spreading nothing but FUD. How dare they tell people that their system actually can work with Linux?

Re: Debunking the debunking of the 1% stat

For an operating system that is better suited to server environments, 1% on the desktop isn't bad.

Re: Debunking the debunking of the 1% stat

Hey...that .1% means a lot, you know. That's the difference between 2012 being just another year or the year of the Linux desktop.

    I lol'd at this thread.
  15. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

    Like the song?

I was referring to the 2012 issue. I know the sun had to do with it somehow (Didn't it?). I don't know much about it. I don't pay attention to doomsday prophecies.
  16. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

Won't do any good when the sun explodes.

I just choose not to believe in Mayans.
  17. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

Isn't that the year of the Linux desktop?

Either way, I'm covered. I don't believe in Mayans.
  18. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

Let's not forget that it also jacked up the axis of the Earth by about three inches. OH NOES!

Meh. Happens all the time. Normal occurrence with earthquakes.

Re: 1Mbs Cable from Comcast (USA)

I would call and demand my money back. If it's 54mpbs and you're getting less than 1mpbs, you're getting ripped off pretty bad.

I didn't know Linsux had an agenda. I also don't think that Linsux is trying to remove any oss philosophy. Actually, I like open source.

I might get slapped for replying to this, but...

Re: Ubuntu cannot compete with OS X or Windows 7

To imply that you would've been infected because of a pop-up is either FUD or ignorance (note that I said ignorance, not stupidity....there's a difference). I've come across those pop-ups numerous...

First of all, that was outstanding!

Second of all, you're absolutely right. You can't really please anyone, these days.

Re: Ubuntu cannot compete with OS X or Windows 7

Personally, I think Windows is bloated (I can't say for OS X...never used it). I still have no idea why Windows 7 takes up 7GB (though that name suddenly makes sense) of hard drive space.

    But,...
