Just joined and already trying to sell us on windows 7. Sounds like a M$ sales rep if you ask me. I don't even believe he has a Linux OS on his machine, but I could be wrong. Just trying to pull us...
I think technology does have a sense of humor, albeit a very dry one. Haven't you ever tried to start you car for hours and it won't start then someone else turns the key and it starts right up. Darn...
Laws of physics as we know them in this time and space.
Yeah, I agree with you. And even if people do find out about Ubuntu they are persuaded to not get it or made to believe it is less of an operating system and not capable of doing much at all. Case in...
That wouldn't be using force, that would be using "The Force".
May The Force be with you young Padawan learner.
Post you xorg.conf file, then we will be able to see whats happening. try a before and after then we can see what changes there are.
did you confirm that it changed your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and the resolution you want is present before and after shutdown?
Never mind, Technical difficulty in the link you provided, when I clicked on it came up server not found but it has been resolved.
Just out of curiosity, why would you need to run gksudo instead of sudo?
I'd say it's more like technology can do anything within the limits of what you can imagine.
But we exceed those limits all the time. And time will go on and technology will grow. So where really is the limit? I will never know in my lifetime.
Ok, here is what I found and it worked for me perfectly.
Ok, I just look at my xorg.conf and this time it is "nvidia" I guess this installation I didn't have to edit that. I will try to adjust mine and see if mine saves.
What worked for me was putting "nv" in Xorg.conf instead of "nvidia". But that was for 8.04 and 8.10 I believe
But it is going to get there, one day, just wait and see. One thing though, I like learning about terminal commands, and compiling and everything else that Microsoft Windows is afraid to let me do...
I try everything to convince people to switch to a Linux OS, weather it be Ubuntu or another flavor. I have installed Ubuntu on peoples machines, after a harddrive failure or other catastrophic...
Thats why I object to windows operating systems, they are forced upon the masses without having the choice.
Well you just converted me. From now on I am going to eat Campbell's chunky soup.

Maybe there was something wrong with original dns to prevent it form connecting. And when you changed it and then changed it back again it could have corrected the problem. To be truthful, I think it...
I don't know all that technical details but sometimes a restart is necessary in order for all the settings to be activated. Everytime I had internet problems where I couldn't connect I called the...
So you have one computer @192.168.101.0 and the other @192.168.101.1?
If that is the case you may have a problem with your internet provider I found this on a search that maybe of help.

Ok, I guess i'm confused. Let me get this straight.
You have one internet connection.
You are using a switch to split the internet connection.
You have no router.
Is this correct so far.
So are you trying to split the connection? I don't think that is possible that way.
