You should read the comments on slashdot too. This is pure FUD it seems.
Not saying that Apache isn't more secure than IIS, but this proves nothing.
Finally solved it! :D
If anyone's interested, the solution was to add -fno-stack-protector to the CFLAGS variable in the Joss makefile and recompile it.
Well, I searched through these forums more carefully and found out that a lot of people have exactly the same problem, and apparently it's sound card related. After installation, there's no sound....
Well, I found out the problem is with my sound card and is pretty well known (sorry, should have done a little more searching before posting). I read that using a program called joss might solve the...
I installed Quake 3 Arena using this guide. After the installation it worked fine except that I had no sound. So I tried the fix suggested at the page, namely doing:
echo 'quake3.x86 0 0 direct'...
It's the Ubuntu System Panel. It's an applet for the gnome panel, so I doubt it will work in KDE though.

I believe it's because the version of Firefox included with Ubuntu is actually slightly modified, and thus they are not allowed to use the original icon. Why they are still allowed to call it Firefox...
Wow, that's so cool. Now I know what I want for my birthday :)
You need the development packages to compile programs. It's called libgtkmm-2.4-dev. The regular package is just for running programs.
Here's mine. Not much of a change since July.
You can also try GimpShop, a Gimp hack to make it look more like Photoshop. Haven't tried it myself, but it look pretty good.
Looking really nice. I would consider removing the Gnome panels from the computer icon though. Even on the relatively large thumbnails you can't see what they are - it only looks like clutter.
I have to say I agree with the OP, it's quite a strange decision to make Kubuntu blue. I read somewhere that the art team are trying to make the default Ubuntu theme 'stand out', so that you only...
Well, for C++ (only language I use), you have these choices basically:
* KDevelop - bloated interface IMO, but very competent.
* Anjuta - clean interface but not that much functionality
* Eclipse...

It was fairly cheap and is pretty easy to carry around. On Dapper, everything works perfectly, even the wlan card...
Wow, that's cool Mathiasdm. I always thought that file manager was just like those made-up GUI:s you usually see in movies (the ones that go 'beep' everything you press a button and that have giant...
I've used OOo writer for all my word processing for the last year and I have never found myself missing any feature. That said, I've heard Calc and Impress don't stand a chance against their MS...
Thanks alot, tzulberti! That's great!
I've been trying out Code::Blocks with debs I found here, and I have to say it's the best Linux IDE I've come across so far. The only problem is that the development version crashes a little too...
I really think you're wrong here. The CLI is an extremely powerful tool if you know how to use it, and you know exactly what you want to do. Sure, if Ubuntu wants to appeal to newcomers, you...
