The problem was in cupsd.conf.

From this it looks as if your main Ubuntu is on sda2 and you wouldn't want to delete that.

I had a lot of similar problems with kernel 2.6.32-24. I went back to 2.6.32-23 and they seemed to stop. I then removed 2.6.32-24 and then re-installed it.
So far (2 days) no problems.
When I boot up I have internet for a time then it disappears after a few minutes.
