I've been curious about the badmouthing of the Gnome 3 shell myself.

I'm a bit of a distro and desktop hopper. I just get itchy for variety sometime. For me, the Gnome 3 shell is my first choice...

I started with Linspire in 2002. Within a year I trashed Windows and have been 100% Linux since on my wife's and my laptop and 2 desktops.

I looked on osalt.com, a nice resource to find open source alternatives to proprietary software.

They recommend sagemath.org.

If you want stability, I suggest either Mepis or Debian (Lenny) as your distro of choice. They're not always equipped with the latest greatest, but they are rock stable.

It worked ok as such. For me, package Mgr's a slug and auto shuts off with every program you load (nuisance). Several non-package mgr programs won't install that work fine with Mandriva, PCLinuxOS...

My Averatec AV7170 the same. This problem seems to be Ubuntu-specific (and it's siblings).

All these attempts to solve this require a Ph.D in command line ... :mad:. Repeatedly they're not working. It's obviously a major showkiller bug for a user. I suggest the team prioritize coming up...

I don't know the setting exactly you're looking for, but I set bindings to Initiate Window Picker and clicked top right.

That is the setting I've seen most distros use as a default.
