I also miss having the weather appear, along with the date appearing in the panel. Did you manage to find a fix?
Just click on the stream (monkey icon) and then use the gwibber menu>close stream.
Its a bit fiddly the first time you do this, but then just close any you don't want to keep once you've finished...
I found a hint for a solution via bug 523327.
Basically, check your /etc/hosts file ("sudo gedit /etc/hosts" into a terminal window to open) has the following:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1...
I have a Sony Ericsson k660i, which can in theory connect and syncronise with a PC. I do not have bluetooth on my computer, so am trying to use the USB connection that came with the phone to do this....
