So I decided to try a different flash drive and it worked. I thought you could boot from any flash drive, but I guess not :-\

Still didn't work... I did notice that for a split second before the menu shows up it says "secure boot not enabled." Could that be the issue, and if so how do I fix it?
MD5Sum was good. I'll try unetbootin and get back to you.
The options that show up when I try to boot the USB are
Try Ubuntu without installing
Install Ubuntu
OWM install (for manufacturers)
Check disc for defects
All options result in the error...
I am trying to boot 12.10, 64 bit.
I'm not sure if I understand your second question, but I have not tried booting anything from this flash drive before on any computer.
I want to dual boot Windows...
I made a bootable USB drive with the Ubuntu .iso using these instructions. I try booting from the USB (both running Ubuntu from the USB and trying to install Ubuntu from the USB onto my hard drive)...
