Dunno if it could be the same cause, but my old 800MHz server on my desk does this because the CMOS battery is dead.

I would say yes, it's worth considering them just for the hardware. I transferred an XP Media Center license to my Serp5 to dual-boot for gaming. Runs like a champ.
Hey! You're in Ohio! Are you going to OLF?
Buy one for twice the price, get the second one FREE!!! :lolflag:
Taking a vacation whether you need it or not, eh? Congrats, enjoy yourself!
Thanks for the info on the drive.
That's why I bring a 8-cup thermos with me in the morning. Of course, I *STILL* don't get my first cup for a few hours. I think work doesn't pile up over the...
Sweet looking machine. If you'll ever offer it with ATI card(s) I'll consider buying one.
Little too rushed in the Monday morning blitz to notice the thread subject?
Okay, I figured it'd be best to ask here so everyone could know. Is there a specific type of drive/interface I need to look for to replace my optical drive with a lightscribe burner? Or are all...
Adobe actually has a native 64bit client. I didn't find this same link when I installed it, but if you google search Ubuntu 64 bit native flash there's tons of answers. I know at least one of them...
My Serval Pro has a 7200RPM drive, and my VMs run great. I don't really feel comfortable comparing it to my 5400RPM drive on my previous machine, because it was PATA instead of SATA, Core Duo 2.10...
Did you install Windows after installing Ubuntu?

I'm bumping this from my Android Dev Phone because I no longer have functional X. I'll probably have to reinstall.
This is way beyond unacceptably aggravating.
Tom, have you guys switched to...
Here's what I'd recommend.
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
That should fix the 41 not upgraded. Then just try this:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
This thread is a good discussion on why System76 computers are so "expensive"
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1109282&highlight=expensive
That should do it. The only thing I'm not sure of is the System76 driver, but I wanna say that's Python-based, not Perl (please correct me if I'm wrong). Either way, you can check that pretty...

I posted in that S76/Dell comparo thread that System76 was the best performance available for a specialty Linux manufacturer.
That was a good...
*BUMP*
I wish I could sticky this because it still pisses me off. I want it to have as much mindshare as possible to build pressure on nvidia to change their aggravating ways.
...OR, get...
Yeah, nvidia is great, if you don't have problems.
They won't release the code, nor fix their bugs. Google "nvidia no virtual terminals" and you'll get my point.
Don't get me wrong, it...
Unfortunately, not for me. I have the very latest 180.29 driver direct from nvidia's website. I haven't tried the older drivers though. It's a very recent card, 9800M GTS, so that's why I haven't...
I don't even consider it even close to worth trying. Without 3D, who cares if it works?
Probably the last nvidia card my money buys.[-(
Anybody else in here have trouble with borked virtual terminals? Has ANYONE had any luck AT ALL fixing it?
This problem is absurd, especially to have gone on so long across multiple Linux...
No, that's just the spec for the type of drive. SATA II means it supports 3.0Gbs, where version 1 only supported 1.5Gbs.
Here's where you can get your drivers:...
ACK! Yes there were. If I go to this thread from my User CP, they're all still there:
