There are some direct x overrides, but i cant seeing it being the cause of the problem. It doesn't make any sense that executing it via a double lick or the unity launcher has no issues but execution...

    Re: xorg-server 1.9 with fglrx

I agree with the content of your statement, but I would like to point out the open drivers are as official as the closed ones because they are made by AMD too.

    Re: State of AMD/ATi drivers

I've generally found a 25% battery life improvement in maverick. My wattage went down from 22 to around 18, but this is a long way away from the catalyst which was running at around 9 watts.

    I...

Re: ATi Open drivers are coming of age... :)

someone told me that the Xorg Edgers includes the latest kernel DRM, can anyone confirm this. I always assumed that it update xorg and mesa.
  12. Re: So what now now that ati released there 10.8 properiety drivers?

Are you an evergreen user? As most cards have compositing out of the box, via the open source drivers. It's just power management that's really lacking these days.
  13. Re: Gui stalling, has been fixed. Can we get the patch set into maverick

  14. Re: So what now now that ati released there 10.8 properiety drivers?

The new driver is not x server 1.9 compatible. There would be no point uploading it into the repos

We will have to wait at least another month for a new driver to see if they can get it working.

Re: New theme has landed in official repos.

I've been testing it and I have to say I love it.

Since trying it it seems that menus and windows render faster (although i do accept that this could be by coincidence of an unrelated update).
  19. Re: Gui stalling, has been fixed. Can we get the patch set into maverick

There was originally one patch which had been improved and expanded, the others need backporting to the relevant kernels as far as i know. The was some work done in the phoronix forums getting the...

I don't think that it extreme to state that you support companies which have open strategies.
