hal is not available in saucy (13.10). The solution that worked for me was to download libhal-storage1 and hal from the raring repositories.
BTW, I'm on Raring, not Lucid. Thanks to the Beans restriction, I cannot update my profile to indicate such.
This solution worked for me: http://askubuntu.com/questions/286297/is-there-a-work-around-to-get-amazon-prime-instant-videos-working (assumes that you have hal and hald installed)

Same issues here. I am using a Compaq CQ45 laptop. Not only does the integrated microphone not work, I also cannot use an external microphone, or headphones. This issue did not exist with ALSA...
By not accepting password, do you mean that your keyboard and/or mouse does not work when you resume from standby? If yes, did you try ssh from another machine on the network. If you find that the...
For volume, the default speaker volume is generally set low after the patch. Type in "alsamixer" (without the quotes) in terminal and increase the speaker volume to a comfortable level. BTW, I do not...
I have quite the opposite problem: My integrated mic array is detected, but external mic does not work. Funny thing is that sometimes, my integrated mic array also stops working in Ubuntu, and does...
Guys,
I think I found a good solution to the sound issues. Just upgrade to Karmic. :)
All issues with sound on my laptop are resolved under Karmic. I have an IDT soundcard.
This is something that always occurs.... Every kernel recompilation kills the alsa update.
But how does it matter? All it takes is an occasional 5 minutes of work.
The problem arising after installing the alsa snapshot could be because your mixer levels are turned low or muted. For this, please start alsamixer (terminal>alsamixer) and check the sound levels....

@joshjh:
This is what you must do. Copy the downloaded file to your home folder, and then right click on it and click on the 'extract here' option. This should create a folder called 'alsa-driver'....

I too have the same laptop, same things apply.
@ashim.dubey
I got the snapshot from here:

I realise that. I too tried unsuccessfully many times before I came upon this solution. Just one more thing, you need to do this everytime your linux kernel is upgraded. However, in...

Hi,
I also have the same laptop. I would recommend you to download the alsa driver snapshot I mentioned in my previous post. Then untar it, and open a terminal in the untarred folder....
@mal2104
The problem in Jaunty is solved if you use the latest alsa driver http://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/alsa/alsa-driver/alsa-driver-20090415.tar.bz2
Then the steps are same...
