Thanks Kiwi.
It will take both hardware upgrades and a increase in our bandwidth allocation. We are going to give Techalign a full report tomorrow and see what happens from there.
Automatix has been ddosed three times in three days. The person involved in this wants to disrupt AX and its users.
We at Automatix just want to say we are not disconnected from Ubuntu. Automatix...
I know in my community there is an effort to get people to recycle old pc's.
Automatix will still remain independent simply because we are a multi distro effort and our update cycle requires a flexibility that MOTU will not provide. This doesn't mean we can't work together...
On AMD64 you have better 32 bit support along with better multimedia support. The only thing not working in 64 bit Firefox is sun-java. Installing 32 bit Swiftfox solved that problem for me.
I...
If you look at the numbers, Vista is anything but a failure. Vista is expected by the current adoption rate to become the dominate operating system within a year.
We are in the process of setting up a meeting between Mark Shuttleworth, The Technical Board and the developers to discuss such issues and to work together instead of against each other.
Automatix is evolving and soon some exciting things are coming that I am not at liberty to talk about. I can say we are in talks with some important people about different things that will make AX...
I just want to say congratulations to the OP for taking the next step and learning how to do things yourself. Automatix was created to help people get to that point where they feel comfortable enough...
If it is a 6 series card you most definitely want to trade with him. The FX series has been dropped from Nvidia support so that may get a little iffy with drivers in the future. It still will...
Someone already has cracked it for Linux but it is very unstable right now. I can't remember the project name but I believe I read it on Digg or /. a couple of weeks back.
I started on Linux with Hoary. This was before EU and AX were options for getting multimedia. There was this ubuntuguide that was awesome for people willing to jump in and learn. I think I...
They have not made it official but Intel just hired a bunch of new engineers for their graphics division. Amd's merger with ATI and the CPU/GPU combo has forced their hand.
That is because they choose distros like Debian, Open SuSe, FC and even Ubuntu (To a lesser extent) which require the use of the terminal for some basic things and you have to depend on third parties...
Let's just hope Dell can make a difference for laptop users.
If I am not mistaken there is a Launchpad entry for a GUI for xorg to be added to ubby at a later date.
The best overall graphics experience in Linux would using a Intel solution. As long as your 3d needs are not massive you can not go wrong with Intel.
Did you try another distro yet? I suggest Mepis or PCLOS if you want the easiest experience both hardware and software wise. SuSe gives me huge fits every time I install it. Ubuntu on the other hand...
Nvidia drivers have worked on both my 6600GT and 7600GT flawlessly . I junked my Radeon card shortly after installing Linux because of it's poor performance with the fglrx drivers.
Playing Doom3...
It is GPL2 and will always remain GPL including the binary.
Both feisty and AX for feisty are still beta so there will still be problems. If you could go to the AX forums and post what you installed and what broke so we can trouble shoot it and fix it before...
Suing Novells customers is the same as suing Novell since they already promised to protect their own customers from lawsuits. A lawsuit against their customers would be far more costly than being...
I have read the deal and the agreement is to indemnify each other from being sued on each others patents.
Just open up the menu editor and you can add gconf to the menu.
90% of the software is from uni or multi. The other 10% is software that is buggy in uni or multi.(Azureus and Flash) Newer versions of stable software. ( Acrobat Reader) Software not in uni or...
