    [ubuntu] Re: Nvidia Driver Problems

Yep worked well. I would emphasize the importance of fully removing your current Nvidia drivers and reinstalling them first to make sure though.

    [ubuntu] Re: Nvidia Driver Problems

For anyone else that finds this, I think I may have found a solution. Don't have time to check right now, but will report back later.

    [ubuntu] Re: Nvidia Driver Problems

Anyone have an idea? I really hate to be stuck in Windows, but that resolution is not usable. I tried going back to an earlier kernel, but that didn't change anything.

    [ubuntu] Nvidia Driver Problems

    Hello there everyone.

I've got a hacked together Gateway Desktop, but everything has been going fine until now.

I rebooted into W7, I swear just to watch Netflix, and when I came back, my...

[ubuntu] Re: how to install application/programs

Did you right-click it, go to properties, go to the "Open With" tab, and make Sun Java 6 the default? That's the way to keep it being opened that way. Otherwise you'll have to redo it every time.
  6. [SOLVED] Re: New to ubuntu and having problems downloading

Nah, the repos are still there and are flying for me. But my mirror is "http://us.archive ....." so they're different places. If I remember correctly your internet browsing, even streaming was...
  7. [SOLVED] Re: New to ubuntu and having problems downloading

Okay, first make sure USC and/or Synaptics are shut down and try again.

What that error is saying is that only one program at a time is allowed to use the sudo (root) access. So no go.
  8. [SOLVED] Re: New to ubuntu and having problems downloading

My apologies, I somehow missed the "Chromium" part of the OP, and thought you were trying to do a version upgrade of the OS. My bad.

Now, can you run the following in the terminal? I'd like to...

[ubuntu] Re: how to install application/programs

Also in the Properties Dialog box you can click on the not-really-an-icon and change it to whatever icon you have laying around (or have downloaded off of the web).

I did this exact same series of...
  10. [SOLVED] Re: New to ubuntu and having problems downloading

What kind of computer do you have?

What version of Ubuntu are you running?

Are you trying to do a full version upgrade?

Not that it's necessary, but would it work to do a full reinstall?

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Wont Install fix?

You don't have to worry about using two CDs. You can just use whatever ISO burning application you decided on and burn it straight to a disk. A good couple ideas is to burn at the lowest speed...

[SOLVED] Re: Ralink 5390 wifi card in Ubuntu 11.04 64bit

I've got a new DM1 I'd like to get wireless running on. I saw that a newer kernel has support baked in. Has that kernel hit the main update channel, or is this compiling still necessary?

Re: Comparisons of gnomeshell and unity?

I've been running Unity as my primary DE for a about a week now to see how I like it.

Basically, I get what they're going for. You can SAY that it's "OSX-dock-like" or "Win7-taskbar-like" but if...

  15. [SOLVED] Re: root user directory does not exist, root password not recognised

This is probably one of those examples why it isn't really a good idea to log in as root. Sudo really gives you all you need as far as root access, as well as protecting the system from accidents...
  16. Re: Android users: what's your favorite web browser?

Dude, totally. I had to go find this on Marketplace and install it. Completely rocks. It's probably as quick as Opera and very minimalistic. The tab layout works and looks a lot like Chrome/ium...
  17. Re: Android users: what's your favorite web browser?

I just got an HTC Droid Eris from Verizon, which is basically a Hero 2.0 but on Verizon instead of Sprint. It seems to me to be like the little sister of the Nexus One (even has a prox sensor to...

Might want to check out the Ubuntu Community Learning Project. Not exactly the same, but your idea could easily fall under the umbrella of what they're trying to do. And they have Canonical support...

  21. Re: New Ubuntu Pandora Radio Program Need Testers

Have the source anywhere? Might be a good idea to make that available so as not to make the GPL zealots angry.

And also to make it right.
