Thanks, that helped me as well.
This may be a stupid question but are you sure that your system is 64bit?
Which version are you running? In everything after 11.04, press the "windows" key and type the name of the application. It should show a list of similarly named apps. Choose one.
Failing that try...
I just created a desktop link then dragged it to the sidebar. Great! I thought and promptly deleted the desktop link and that was when the icon defaulted. To me it defeats the object if you have to...
I've been trying the same thing for a while now. I've traced most of the unity config folders but I'm yet to find the one responsible.
Really annoying.
I found some answers for you on here and here
Hope that helps
Do you have your Home on a separate partition?
If so, might be worth trying to boot from the CD, and see if you can "Upgrade from 11.04 to 11.04". I screwed up my Unity desktop by installing...
I did think it was a strange idea to limit it and as I'm at work (don't tell the boss) I couldn't check it on my desktop.
I found that link while looking for a more detailed intro to Unity.
I did read somewhere that Unity handles it workspaces a bit differently to the old Gnome.
Not sure if this is still the case
So at least you know the connection is working. It looks like port 80 may be blocked (just a guess).
Have you got a firewall running? Usually UFW (the Ubuntu firewall) allows port 80 by default....
Are any of your other browsers working or is it just Chrome?
It might be worth clearing any cache that you have and checking your DNS settings. I think the cache settings are in the "spanner" on...
In CCSM (CompizConfig Settings Manager) /General Options/Desktop Size, there are "number of desktops" options.
I think that should be where you change the number of desktops.
Hope that helps.
I get this error sometimes when my system cannot connect to the servers for updates due to heavy load. I just wait a while and try again.
I also noticed I had problems with DNS and my router, are...
You could either try the suggestion from EGamer or wait for the next update, as stated in the bug report
Might be worth looking here. It looks like a bug and a fix has been released.
Hope that helps.
If you need some guidance about WINE, check here. You'll get all the info you'll need. As for a pdf, here you go. I'm not too sure about the age of the doc, so it may be worth checking the Wine HQ...
You need to supply more info.
Is it ATI or Nvidia?
Which version of Ubuntu?
Have you checked the logs? What do they say?
Check your log files for any firewall issues. If you see any entries with [UFW] at the start then that'll be the firewall.
Do you have a router or anything that may need the relevant ports...
WINE can be a bit intimidating at first, but don't worry it won't (or shouldn't) break your system. Also bear in mind that Wine Is Not an Emulator. It is an abstraction layer (it basically links...
Sometimes the proprietary driver can incorrectly detect the available resolutions.
What do you get when you type the following in terminal:
xrandr output
EDIT: Addition
Looks like a password problem.
Have you checked your fire wall or logs?
Which graphics drivers are you using? Is it the proprietary or OS drivers?
I don't think there is a version of the Samsung PC Suite (Kies) software (and Kies doesn't play well with WINE). What type of "sync" are you wanting?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S, so I tend to mount...
It definitely takes a while to get through the whole process. I managed to get it installed but took a good couple of hours on the first attempt. Must be all the demand on the servers.
