I agree with everything, and I use the open source driver myself (AO522 C-50, 2GB RAM). With those drivers I can play videos at acceptable quality and show them on a tv screen with the HDMI cable....
Yes, that seems about right. It was the only way to make things work on my Acer Aspire One 522 C-50:
1) change boot order in BIOS;
2) install Ubuntu.
