[ubuntu] Re: Dell XPS M1530 Screen Resolution

Ok Thanks. I mostly want the lower resolution because 1440X900 on 15inch screen makes reading webpages a little hard. Text is a little to small. I placed my order for the XPS about 2 years ago,...

[ubuntu] Re: ubuntu 8.10 on Dell XPS M1530

The good thing is that 8.04 works very well on the 1530. I'm not sure, but maybe the new resolution problem has something to do with Gnome? I tried the new RC1 of Mint and had the same resolution...

I have a Dell XPS1530 and I just upgraded to 8.10. Everything works fine, even better than 8.4, except I can not get 1200X800 to show up even as an option to choose it. My normal screen resolution...

I think the Check boxes are done that way to make it look more 3D? Although all around would look good to.

  13. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

Wild Guess but maybe you dont have the repository you need selected. I think I'm wrong... but who knows...
  14. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

I think it dosent then. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
  15. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

    It should be
uname -a I would of posted this before, but I just figured it out. Still learning my way around linux.
  16. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

It should if you have the hyperthreading on your P4. It makes it so it works as 2 CPU's even if you have one.
  17. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

I think if you go to System Monitor, under the Resources tab, it should show 2 CPU's running. When I boot up it only sayd 686, and I have the smp one installed.

    Re: Install ePSXe Playstation Emulator

Hi, I keep getting this error.
    /usr/local/bin/epsxe: line 6: 13693 Segmentation fault ./epsxe

    How do I fix that?

EDIT: nm I kinda fixed it..
  19. Re: Picking the Kernel thats Right for You (Possible Speed Increase)

Thanks a lot. This worked really good for me. I run a P4 2.8GHz HT computer. I noticed things like OO, and AmaroK loading a lot faster.
  20. [SOLVED] Re: Automatix: Automated Graphical Installer and Tweaker (look here first!)

I installed it yesterday worked really well for me. I read trew this thread first and found a way to get my bookmarks back to. You can really tell the difference between 1.0 and 1.5.

    Re: Final Fantasy XI

I tried to install it, with no success. I guess it would be much easyer if FF was alone, but it needs Playonline :( I guess I'll just keep a small Windows Partition for this game :???:
