Well, I finally backed-up my system and tried some stuff:
I tried
sudo apt-get -dV --show-progress dist-upgrade
and
sudo apt full-upgrade
Both commands gave the same result:

Uhhh, what browser are you using in Ubuntu? If you are using Firefox:
Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Export Bookmarks to HTML
Them import bookmarks into that other browser.
I would suggest completely uninstalling/removing flareget and using the built in Firefox/Ubuntu download manager.

I ran mtr a few more times on some of the other ip addresses.
67.42.200.48 is owned by Quest which is owned by CenturyLink.

I was able to connect to mailinator once yesterday but today I can not connect and I get about the same mtr report
