i am able to connect to the internet with my browser, but apt-get does not work for me. what am i doing wrong?

it's an application (google talk) error. winecfg displays the window, but audio seems to be a problem. i'm unable to get ALSA configured. the audio control panel doesn't launch. google talk window...
