  1. Re: server 9.10 mail transfer with virtual domain

    I didn't look at what that howto says to do w/postfix's main.cf file. If you don't want users to locally access this box and for the mail to be forwarded onto Exchange then that's probably not the...
  2. Re: server 9.10 mail transfer with virtual domain

    Not sure exactly what you're going for, but sounds like you'd need to add a transport, like this:

    yourdomain.com smtp:[exchangeip]

    [ubuntu] Re: Where is phpmyadmin?

    Easiest thing would be to remove it through webmin and install through the repos;

    sudo aptitude install phpmyadmin
    Then you should be able to access it as you attempted before. Installing...

    [ubuntu] Re: Is my ubuntu server ready for port forwarding?

    I'd highly recommend installing denyhosts.

    sudo aptitude install denyhosts

    It'll block an ip permanently if they attempt logging in 3 times and fail. It's pretty much impossible to guess a...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: recommended port scanner to help with security risks

    I can't believe no one has mentioned nessus! It does way more than simple port scanning, it will tell you specific vulnerabilities and most of the time tell you how to fix them.

    [ubuntu] Re: Squid Proxy Problems

    You don't need squid to do what you're trying to do. You need to setup a dynamic forward on 8080 in putty, it should show up in putty as D8080. Then connect to your home machine and set your...

    [ubuntu] Re: Questions About Propsed Home Server Build

    FWIW, I've never had a problem w/dyndns.org in 3-4 years. If your router/gateway supports updating it then it's a piece of cake.

    As a side note, I do have the ~$10 a year plan w/dyndns so I can...

    Give TorrentFlux a look.

    [ubuntu] Re: Migrate from Windows2k -> ubuntu+samba

    [all variants] Re: Samba LDAP Shared Accounts

    In this case, don't add the user to ldap, just add it in samba. You should be able to just

    smbpasswd khalis

    and it should work as you want it to.

    You definitely don't NEED 2 nics to do what you want. Just disable dhcp on your router and install dhcp, bind9, and apache2 on your server.
