    Using Ubuntu 10.10 (full update as of today, Sept 3 2010) seems really stable and boots without any major errors. Looks like 10.10 will work just fine on these laptops.

    Yes current Ubuntu 10.10 seems stable.
    I have had problems with the policykit app. not closing properly at shutdown or logout requiring a force quit.

    Not yet but I downloaded the Ubuntu Kernel 2.6.35-14 from the repo and added it to alpha 2. it's stable now, as kernel 2.6.35 is now finalized. Might download and try alpha 3 soon though.

    Sounds like ACPI is still off, You can do a quick confirm by opening the system monitor and count the CPU cores if you see only one then most likely you have ACPI turned off.
