  1. [ubuntu] Re: Macbook Pro 8,2 Wireless on Quantal 12.10 BCM4331

I have a MacBook Pro 8,1 with the 4331 as well.
The problem would appear to be that the mpodroid mactel PPA does not have a Quantal repository, so apt-get fails when it attempts to contact the...

[SOLVED] Re: Graphical issues on Facebook.com using Chrome

    Yeah, this isn't solved.
In fact, I've had this problem for quite some time. A few months, at least. I looked a while ago when I first experienced it, but there were no threads about the overall...

[ubuntu] Re: Disappointed with 12.10... (various problems)

Well, for the heck of it:
    1) On my desktop, the proprietary fglrx driver breaks compiz. (Apparently a common issue right now)
    2) On my Macbook, I'm unable to get the wireless up and running....

[ubuntu] Re: 12.04 LiveCD does not work on MacBook Pro

If it has anything to do with Apple hardware, you should definitely post it in the Apple Users forum. There's a lot of users who are rather knowledgeable about the issues you'll encounter attempting...
  5. [SOLVED] Re: 12.04 to 12.10 upgrade results in Unity desktop w no menubar or launchbar

I would like to find out more info about this as well.
I have a Radeon HD 6970, and after a clean install, the fglrx driver caused the blank desktop issue. I can open a terminal with the keyboard,...

[ubuntu] Re: screen turns blank after login ubuntu 12.10

I also had issues with the fglrx driver.
I ran "sudo apt-get purge fglrx*" to revert to the open source driver, although the above command will work just fine too.

    The problem is that these...

Re: Cross-platform alternative to Game Maker

    Thanks!
@Juan, looks nice, but everything (Including the functions) are in Spanish :( I could work around that.. but I might as well use an English API.

@Sslaxx, nice suggestions. I forgot about...

    Cross-platform alternative to Game Maker

    Hello all.

I wrote a super long (Yes, more than this one) post explaining my frustrations and exact needs, but I felt I'd erase it and get to the point.

Situation: After using GM for several...

[gnome] Re: Rhythmbox stops responding after pausing

Ok, so this happens on my laptop with Fedora 17 as well.
That's 3 computers with dramatically different hardware, under Ubuntu and Fedora.
Nobody else is seriously experiencing this issue?

[gnome] Rhythmbox stops responding after pausing

If I am playing tracks from an audio CD, then pause it, it won't continue to play when I press play again.
This includes pressing play inside rhythmbox itself, pressing play from the notification...

Re: Ubuntu 12.04 - Minecraft lighting bugs.

    Can you show a picture?

I get this weird glitch, probably not related, where my lighting never seems to update. Torches are sitting there, but they don't light anything until I set another light...
  12. Re: Trying to run minecraft and not understanding how Ubuntu works...

fglrx would probably work better than whatever proprietary driver out there (That still worked with a recent distro) could offer.

I recall visiting family and trying to get my sister's desktop to...

    Re: Cannot launch Cave Story

Well, installing ia32-libs fixed it. Launches just fine..
Doesn't reset the resolution when closing, but I can work around that.
The 1.2 executable (32 bit only) works, but places it in a 640x480...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu Repos too slow

Thanks, MG&TL, that makes sense. For some reason I thought the 'find'/'replace' were tokens of some kind, making the man page confusing for me ;)

Re: playing hd videos on old hardware

Re: Minecraft will not work on Ubuntu 12.04

The only way you're getting back to 11.10 is by completely reinstalling Ubuntu 11.10.

Re: How do I get SDL to use the SVGALIB driver?

Make sure you have SDL compiled with svgalib support:

    export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=svgalib

    Just my guess. I have...
